Heirloom helps families catalogue a loved one's belongings and divide them fairly. The things you put into Heirloom — photographs of a home, the stories behind objects, what was promised to whom — are among the most personal records a family keeps. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it.

Account information. Your email address and, if you choose to provide one, a display name. If you sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name and either your email address or a private relay address. We use these only to sign you in and to show your name to the family members you share an estate with.
Estate content. Everything you and your family add to an estate: the names, rooms, categories, estimated values and stories of belongings; photographs; claims and bequest notes; private "meaningful to me" flags; division choices (points or draft picks); and settlement statuses. You control this content, and you can export or delete it.
Technical data. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, timestamps, request paths) needed to operate and secure the service. We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not run analytics on the stories you write.
Only to provide the service: showing an estate to its members, keeping sealed choices private until everyone has locked in, generating exports you request, and sending you emails you initiated (sign-in links). We do not sell personal information and we do not use your content for advertising or to train AI models.
Optional photo suggestions. If you tap "Suggest name & category from photo", that single photograph is sent to an AI provider (Anthropic) to suggest a name, category and rough value. Suggestions are never applied to the story field, and nothing is sent unless you ask.
Only members of the same estate — the people the organizer invited — can see that estate's content. Some content is narrower still: your private "meaningful to me" flags are visible to no one but you (the app shows only whether two or more people flagged an item, never who). Your sealed division choices are unreadable by anyone, including other family members, until every participant has locked in. These rules are enforced by database-level access controls, not merely by the app's screens.
Data is stored with Supabase (database, authentication and file storage) in the United States, encrypted in transit and at rest. Photographs live in a private bucket and are served only through short-lived signed links.
Export. An estate's organizer can export the full estate as JSON from Estate settings, and anyone can generate the keepsake book and record of division as PDFs.
Delete an estate. The organizer can permanently delete an estate and all of its photographs from Estate settings.
Delete your account. From Your account, tap "Delete my account". Your sign-in is removed immediately. In estates you shared with others, your name becomes "Former member" and the belongings you catalogued and any division outcomes remain, because they belong to the family record. Estates where you were the only member are deleted with your account.
Corrections. Everything in the catalogue is editable in the app. For anything else, email us.
Heirloom is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will note the new effective date here and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
